Positive Reviews

No Frills Comfort.

The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable and guests thought the Shamrock offered good value. They appreciated having a microwave in the room along with supplies of coffee.tea, sugar, fresh milk and various cereals. Guests found the showers clean and well maintained and, after reading some negative reviews, most say they were pleasantly surprised.

Friendly Faces.

Guests found the Shamrock’s owner and his family courteous and efficient and said they were made to feel very much at home. Some guests said the small and friendly establishment was the perfect place for those traveling alone.

Good Location.

Some guests who stayed at the Shamrock were attending weddings at the nearby temple, others were in the area for Rugby matches, or just passing through and ready to call it a day. Regardless of their reasons, guests found the location, close to the town centre and train station, convenient and thought the Shamrock perfect for an overnight stay.

Negative Reviews

A Bit Noisy.

Noise from traffic on the main road, passing trains and the sounds of early morning worship from the temple next door contributed to a less than peaceful stay for some guests at the Shamrock. Others complained about noisy in-room refrigerators and bathroom fans.

Cigarette Smoke.

Rooms that smelled like ashtrays and the lingering smell of cigarette smoke in the hallways were problems for some guests at the Shamrock. If they opened the windows to air the rooms, the noise from the street below then became a problem creating a no-win situation.

Slightly Seedy.

You get what you pay for said some guests about the Shamrock Guest House. They reported thin and uncomfortable mattresses with exposed springs, broken furniture, dirty curtains and leaking sinks. A lack of wardrobes, or space to hang clothes, presented problems for some guests.
