Positive Reviews

Quiet and handy town centre location

The peaceful location in Grange-over-Sands was conveniently within walking distance of the railway station and town centre for shops, amenities and dining options. Moreover, the gorgeous Lake District National Park was close by for walking, fishing, cycling and bird-watching. Motorists appreciated the free parking nearby and liked being within easy reach of the A590, A591 and M6 for uncomplicated access to Cumbria beauty spots, golf courses and local attractions.

Rooms and communal facilities praised

Guests praised the well-cleaned, well-appointed and comfortable rooms, which also benefited from cosy beds and dependable free Wi-Fi. Many budget-minded travellers felt they got good value for money as room rates were normally competitive. Cyclists and walkers appreciated shared facilities like the bike storage and drying room.

Good customer service and excellent breakfasts

Diners enjoyed the wide selection of cooked and continental options at breakfast. Reviewers often said the guest house was smoothly-run by friendly, accommodating and helpful hosts who happily went the extra mile to ensure guests had a good stay. Dog owners welcomed the pet-friendly policy and families frequently said they were well looked after.

Negative Reviews

Parking arrangements weren't ideal

Free overnight parking was possible on the street outside the property, although it frustrated many motorists that restrictions sometimes applied. Moreover, some drivers claimed they struggled to find spaces nearby during busy periods. However, there was also the option of a public pay and display car park a few steps away.

Minor maintenance complaints

Dated decor and tired-looking furniture attracted criticism from guests in some rooms. Several critics also felt certain en suite bathrooms would have benefited from further modernization.

Claims some rooms were pretty small

It was occasionally claimed some of the en suite bathrooms or bedrooms were a little cramped, especially when fully occupied.
