About The George and Pilgrim

The George and Pilgrim Hotel, built in the late 15th century as a pub, offers an exciting glimpse into South West England's history. Located in the Glastonbury city centre, this hotel maintains many original architectural details.

There are 14 rooms available and all are equipped with modern conveniences such as flat screen televisions, Wi-Fi and tea/coffee making facilities. The Four Poster Bedrooms feature luxuriously draped oak-framed four poster beds and Triple Rooms are available for larger parties.

The George and Pilgrim Hotel is operated from a beautifully-maintained historic building.  Amenities include free parking and breakfast, an onsite beer garden and meeting rooms for up to 50 people.

The heart of the hotel is found in its lively pub and restaurant. Classic, homemade pub fare and ale may be enjoyed in this traditional pub setting.

Many visitors walk to nearby Glastonbury Abbey, a route that traces the steps of the pilgrims who first stayed at this hotel. As well as a variety of pubs and restaurants may also be found close by.

Positive Reviews

Not Just for History Buffs.

Guests are charmed by the amazing atmosphere of this distinctive hotel. Many have compared its well-maintained architecture to historic museum sites, period drama films and even Harry Potter's own Hogwarts.

Excellent Local Pub.

Guests love the cozy pub and report that staff members and regular patrons are very welcoming. Guests particularly enjoy the live music on weekends and a great selection of local ales.

Bedrooms are Spacious.

Many guests remark on the impressive size of the four poster bed rooms. Beds are comfortable and en suite bathrooms are modern and huge.

Negative Reviews

Rooms are Not Clean.

Some guests report that their rooms were not well-cleaned prior to their visits. Carpets were stained and bathrooms had slight mould issues.

Too Many Stairs.

Guests with limited mobility find the multiple flights of stairs difficult to manage. They also say that a first-floor room is not easily booked online.

Rooms are Noisy.

Several guests were dissatisfied with the amount of noise that could be heard from their rooms. Heavy leaded windows block out street sounds, but loud pub noises are sometimes heard in the rooms above.
