Positive Reviews

Stellar Views & Location

This is an exceptional hidden gem with elegant furnishings & charming historic character Their original Victorian lift is still in use, for example The estuary views from the balconies are truly spectacular, with the lovely River Fowey cascading past into the sea before your eyes Very clean, well-equipped and cosy, rooms above the standard size are known to be quite spacious Public areas and gardens are impeccably maintained Don't miss it if you're in the area!

Meticulous Staff

Friendly, well-trained & professional, this staff is utter perfection Nothing is too much trouble for them to assist their guests, and you'll note the enthusiasm they have for their work is outstanding .

Top Notch Dining

All the meals as well as drinks in the bar are a delight Breakfast is served hot, promptly replenished & superbly prepared with plenty of choices including sufficient vegetarian options Later meals of the day are excellent and of high quality also Be sure to check on the bar specials too, as the deal prices may surprise you.

Negative Reviews

A Few Things Overlooked

Some felt the carpeting & decor needed freshening up in some areas, as it felt just a bit too old-fashioned. However, others found the historic aspects quite charming.

Lack of Proper Disabled Facilities

Although there is a bit larger toilet for disabled guests, it isn't up to standard for wheelchair use by all This is very unfortunate, as a renovation has already taken place and the issue has not been suitably corrected.

Parking Problems

Make sure you book a parking space as early on as possible as they are quite limited. It is also impossible to fit larger vehicles in some spaces. The alternatives are not favourites among guests as they require some distance and trekking uphill, at times with packages.
