Positive Reviews

Friendly Staff

The owner and staff of this family owned hotel drew high praise from guests for their warmth, friendliness and efficiency. They described the owner, Connan, as very conscientious and attentive to detail and many cited specific instances in which he'd gone out of his way to ensure their satisfaction and comfort.

Delicious Food

Open to the public, the hotel's on-site bar and restaurant, Earls, was a hit with guests. Beef and Guinness pie, beer battered fish and chips and sausages and mash drew raves and guests described the presentation, service and ambience as excellent.

Convenient For Channel Tunnel

Many guests stayed at Wards Hotel before leaving for France via the Channel Tunnel or Eurostar. They described the location as convenient and the rooms clean and comfortably furnished. Guests appreciated the on-site parking, the downstairs pub and restaurant and most thought it the perfect spot for a night or two. Other guests on holiday in the area, enjoyed Folkestone's seafront and views of France from The Leas Promenade.

Negative Reviews

Road Noise

While a few guests noted some road noise, it didn't pose a major problem.

A Little Touch-Up Needed

Some guests felt the hotel's exterior could use a bit of paint, others noted faded or worn carpets on stairs and corridors.

Stairs to Climb

Wards Hotel has no lift and a few older guests, or those with heavy suitcases, found the climb a bit of an effort. The hotel's website notes that there is no lift and recommends that guests who cannot climb stairs request ground floor rooms.
