Wynyard Woodland Park Planetarium and Observatory (Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom)

Wynyard Woodland Park Planetarium and Observatory was formally known as The Castle Eden Walkway. The park was first opened to the public in 1981 and some of the walks are along the old disused Stockton to Wellfield railway line. The Thorpe Thewles Station can still be seen and the station house has been turned into a visitors centre and cafe. Various walks and cycle routes are available some on the flat and some which are hilly and pass through Thorpe Woods. There are 2 playgrounds 1 for younger children and 1 for older children, parking is free and public and disabled toilets are available. Also on the site is the Wynyard Planetarium and Observatory. Both buildings have telescopes and are open to the public, educational and community groups at various times of the year from September to April. There are various charges for these viewings.
