Victoria Park (Portsmouth, United Kingdom)

Victoria Park is located on Anglesea Road, close to Portsmouth City Centre. There are three entrances, one on the corner of Anglesea Road, one on Edinburgh Road, and one opposite Portsmouth and Southsea station on Commercial Road. All entrances are accessible to the disabled. There is a car park close by on Commercial Road. The park is open all year round. Within the park are many trees, flower beds and seats. An aviary houses peacocks among other birds, and next to it is a caged area for rabbits and guinea pigs that the public are allowed to feed. There is a small playground for children. The Lodge, at the corner of Edinburgh Road and Anglesea Road, has a cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating, and local art exhibitions are held there. Several naval memorials are located in the park. Inside a miniature pagoda is a replica of a Chinese bell. This commemorates crew members of HMS Orlando who lost their lives during the 1900 Peking campaign. Another memorial is dedicated to the crew of HMS Powerful who died during the Boer War. There are no toilets in the park or the cafe. The nearest ones are in the Guildhall Square, about 100 yards from the Commercial Road entrance.
