Valencia Port (Gandia, Spain)

The Port of Valencia operation covers not only Valencia but also the ports of Sagunto and Gandia. It is Spain’s 2nd largest seaport and the one of the largest commercial ports on the Mediterranean. Seafaring has been carried out here for centuries and various historical buildings in the port area are testament to this, especially the emblematic Clock Tower at the entrance. This is used for exhibitions while the port sheds have been refurbished as a recreation area. Boat tours of the harbour are offered. The history of the site is preserved in the nearby Royal Dockyards which house the Maritime Museum. The port is also used by cruise ships and ferries to the Balearics and Italy. The selection of Valencia as the venue for the 2007 America’s Cup meant an opportunity to upgrade the marina area to international standards. Pre-booked visits to the port facilities are available free of charge to institutional groups such as schools, colleges and trade delegations.
