UNESCO Blenheim Palace (Oxford, United Kingdom)

Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 Blenheim Palace is the only non-Royal country house in Britain to bear the official name Palace. It was built between 1705 and 1724. It is the family home of the Dukes of Marlborough and was built for the first Duke, John Churchill.. It is currently the home of the 11th Duke and his family. Blenheim Palace was the birthplace of British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, a descendant of the Spencer-Churchill family. Blenheim Palace stands in 2,100 acres of landscaped gardens and features woodlands, lakes and ornamental gardens that were designed by Capability Brown. The Palace and formal gardens are closed during the winter but the grounds are open all year round. Admission prices to the grounds are: Adults - £4.00 each Children - £3.00 Admission prices for the Palace and formal gardens are: Peak Season (14th February - 22nd February and 10th April - 1st November Adults - £17.50 each Children - £10.00 each Off Peak (25th February - 9th April and 4th November - 13 December) Adults - £14.50 Child - £7.80
