Ripley Castle is located in the village of Ripley in North Yorkshire on the main A61 road near Ripon. Built in the 15th century it has been the family home of the Ingleby family for the past seven centuries and is currently occupied by the 6th Baronet, Thomas Ingleby, he is the 28th generation of the family to live here. The Ingleby family have a long association with royalty and Henry Ingleby served King Edward III and was influential in the construction of Windsor Castle. His predecessor Sir William Ingleby served Henry VIII, Mary Tudor and Elizabeth I. Due to the castle being occupied by the same family for so long a large number of possessions and documents have survived. The castle stands within landscaped gardens that include woodland and lakes. Both the castle and its grounds are open for public tours and the grounds are regularly used for large events including music concerts and vintage car shows.
