Palace of the Lords of Kunstat and Podebrady (Prague, Czech Republic)

The Palace of the Lords of Kunstat and Podebrady is located in the Old Town of Prague. The oldest part of the building date back to the late 12th century. During the 15th century it was not only extended but also served as home for George of Podebrad who would become King of Bohemia in 1457. The King is also known as Jiří of Poděbrady or the Hussite King and tried to establish a peace union in between all the rulers in Europe. The house features several Romanesque chambers with cross-vaulted ceilings, fireplaces and columns which are located now at subterranean level but used to be part of the ground floor of the palace at the time when it was built. Further you can visit an exhibition about George of Podebrady’s life.
