Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam was the second of the nine waxwork museums to open within the Madame Tussaud’s group. It opened in 1971 following the success of London’s world famous branch and like its English counterpart provides waxwork models of famous people, but with a Dutch twist. There are plenty of famous models within the museum like Oprah Winfrey, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Marilyn Monroe but in addition to these you can also find people like Wubbo Ockel, the first Dutch astronaut or the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt. Most of the models are life size and they are displayed within typical settings. Visitors can have their photograph taken with their favourite celebrity and many of the models can be touched. You will also find the world’s largest waxwork animated figure here at over 5 metres tall. Madame Tussaud’s stands in Dam Square right in the centre of Amsterdam and is well served by the city’s public transport system including its buses, trams and trains. It is open daily from 10am until 6.30pm. Admission charges can be found on the website.
