Dovercourt Bay (Harwich, United Kingdom)

Dovercourt Bay, near the town of Harwich, is a Blue Flag beach that is also recommended by the Marine Conservation Society. It has areas of sand and shingle, and the water is suitable for swimming as well as water sports such as jet-skiing, surfing and sailing. You can walk to Harwich along the promenade and find a boating lake, skatepark, swimming pool and sports centre. Hemford Water National Nature Reserve with its colony of seals is not far from Dovercourt Bay. The beach has a lifeguard service, toilets and facilities for the disabled. Dogs are not allowed at Dovercourt during the bathing season. Harwich Town and Dovercourt Bay railway stations are both about a mile from the beach, and there are also bus services. There is free parking along the promenade, with the nearest car park 200 metres away.
