Cathedral Church of St Marie (Sheffield, United Kingdom)

The Cathedral Church of St Marie is the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Sheffield. It dates from the middle of the 19th century. It originally occupied an adjacent site, where the Mortuary and the Blessed Sacrament Chapels are now located. The names of all of the priests who served Sheffield before this Cathedral was built are all displayed on the walls of the Mortuary Chapel, although the gravestones were removed when the city centre was developed. The building was granted Cathedral status on the 30th May 1880 and it is now the principal seat for the diocese of Hallam. The building is kept open at all times and entry is free.
