It offers comfortable, traditional accommodation and is well located for access to the most popular local attractions and points of interest. Rooms with private bathroom feature tea and coffee facilities and TV. Additional beds for children can be added at no extra cost. Rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. Discounted rates are available for offsite parking requirements. The front desk is manned at all times and there is a luggage storage facility here. A continental style breakfast is served daily and there is a lounge/bar at the Windsor Inn. Isaacs and Greene’s restaurants are an easy stroll away and it’s a little further to the French-themed Star Anise. University College, Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Bells of Shandon and Cork City Hall are all well under two miles from the inn.
Staff at the Windsor Inn Cork are warm and friendly and very down-to earth. The atmosphere is far more relaxed than one would find at most chain hotels and the overall feeling is one of relaxed hospitality more reminiscent of a bygone era.
Rooms at the inn are quite spacious and uncluttered which makes them feel more relaxing and inviting. Room décor is quite contemporary and fresh adding a more cosy and down-to-earth feel that matches with the overall feel of the inn.
The Windsor Inn is currently under new owner/management and things are being improved bit by bit. The current owners however are keeping the great traditional pub atmosphere which is really the heart and soul of the establishment. Guests can enjoy a variety of local ales as well as fresh full English breakfast served each morning.
The new owners are beginning renovations so much of the place still looks quite old and fairly rundown with some plumbing issues, peeling wallpaper and so on. This is not a chain hotel so expect some very basic accommodation for the time being.
The general area is filled with a number of shops, pubs and night spots so expect a fair amount of street noise, particularly on weekend nights. The pub itself is a very popular spot with locals as well as guests and some evenings can get quite loud.
There is no lift to take guests to the rooms upstairs which could be an issue for older travellers or those with any sort of mobility issue. Ask in advance for rooms on the ground floor if possible.
