There’s a real buzz about the New Inn + in addition to accommodating visitors, it’s a focal point locally for those in search of a friendly pub or meal out. The fun atmosphere is attracts all age groups, including families. Accommodation in these quirky old rooms includes a popular 4 poster option. The inn is a popular base for visiting business people and contractors with a substantial breakfast to start the day and lots of bar and restaurant choices – including terrific steaks – at the other end of the day.

You can’t create character like this and even the rooms are immersed in 15th century features. They are also very clean and the beds, comfortable. Neither are they very far to go after a night in the bar or restaurant!

Breakfast is well cooked and substantial. If staying as a tourist, you’ll be drawn back here during the day for some really appetising lunch menus. Then there’s tea and cakes in the coffee shop before drinks in the bar and dinner. One of the main tourist attractions is Gloucester Cathedral. Thankfully ...it’s only 300 yards away!

Used cups and towels on arrival, manky furnishings, unclean en-suites, etc. Either the cleaning lady is ‘off’ or this is the usual state of the rooms. Awful.

Pop music, dart boards and giant size TVs don’t sit easily in the ancient public areas of the New Inn.

Lots of rollicking noise from enthusiastically run bars and restaurants can be a pain for resident guests. Try somewhere else in town? Take care at night! There are places that feel less menacing than Gloucester!
