Hotel Port Gaverne (Port Isaac, United Kingdom)

Port Gaverne is situated in a stunning location, close to the coast in a traditional fishing village and surrounded by unspoilt countryside. Stroll the tall cliffs either side of the village, or wander the beach and cool off in the ocean.

Being a hotel in a fishing village, the restaurant serves some absolutely delicious sea food dishes, including fresh crab sandwiches, plump lobsters and mackerel straight from the local fishermen.

If you like to travel with a canine companion then you’re in luck, because your dog will be welcomed here. The surrounding countryside is perfect terrain for walking your dog too.

The hotel is listed as a three star hotel, but the room rates here are pretty high for the standard of hotel you’re paying for. Also, there are no facilities like a gym or pool, just a lounge which is open to the public anyway.

While free car parking is provided here it’s actually quite a way from the hotel, meaning you’ll have to walk a way with your luggage. If that wasn’t bad enough, the restaurant and bar attracts quite a crowd during the afternoon and evenings, so you might even struggle to find a parking spot when arriving in the evening.

With no lift to substitute the stairs, cramped attic rooms and an off premises car park, Port Gaverne is not a great hotel if you are suffering from an injury or are less able-bodied.
