Rooms in the annexe are clean, well decorated and comfortable. Perfectly acceptable.

Don’t get out of your depth in expecting this to be a charming Devon boutique hotel with roses round the door. It isn’t! But its own individual attractions are truly impressive. Where else could you stay in a smallish hotel with 2 heated indoor swimming pools? The pool facilities are a remarkable compliment to a hotel of this size and appreciated to the full by guests who relish the luxury of a swim.

After a long journey, there’s a friendly welcoming host and a comfortable room. Time then to relax perhaps with a cold beer in the garden. Cheers!

There’s a lack of hot water for showers, usually in the evening. Staff seem strangely unenthusiastic about solving the problem.

You’re in the Devon countryside so, with open windows as well, it’s reasonable to expect ‘company’ in the room in the form of insects, spiders etc. You won’t be disappointed!

Wood chip wallpaper, carpet in the bathroom and mould in the en-suite. Not ideal.
