This accommodation is primarily noted for its central location, making it a convenient base for budget travelers and those attending local events or seeking a short stay. Its key feature is its affordability, often highlighted as a suitable option for a quick overnight stay. While some guests find the self-check-in process efficient, many report significant difficulties, including incorrect codes and delays, which can be particularly stressful for solo travelers or those arriving late. Guests should be prepared for a remote management system and be ready to contact support via phone or messaging for access issues. To ensure a smoother arrival, it is advisable to confirm access codes well in advance and be aware that the property is unstaffed.
Facilities & Amenities
The rooms are generally described as basic but equipped with essential amenities for a short stay. Guests typically find a kettle, TV, and towels provided. Some rooms also include a hair dryer, a heater, and complimentary toiletries. While some guests appreciate the presence of a fridge in their room, others note its absence. There are mixed comments regarding the provision of Wi-Fi, with some finding it good and others reporting poor signal. Common complaints include a lack of milk or spoons for hot drinks, insufficient hangers for clothes, and the absence of a bin in some rooms.
Cleanliness & Room Comfort
Feedback on cleanliness and room comfort is highly varied, with many guests reporting significant issues. While some rooms are described as clean and comfortable with comfortable beds and clean sheets, a substantial number of reviews highlight concerns such as dirty bathrooms, hair in showers, stained linen, and general lack of cleanliness. Rooms are frequently noted as small or tiny, with some bathrooms being particularly cramped. Many guests experience noise from outside traffic, neighboring rooms, or within the property due to thin walls and frequent door slamming. Issues with heating are common, with rooms often being cold and portable heaters being insufficient. Additionally, some guests report uncomfortable beds with visible springs or sagging mattresses, and issues with shower temperature and water pressure.
Location & Accessibility
The accommodation's location is consistently praised as a major advantage, being central and within walking distance of the pier, seafront, shops, bars, and restaurants. It is also conveniently located near a bus stop, making local transit accessible. For those attending events, its proximity to venues is a significant benefit. However, guests frequently mention the challenge of parking, noting that there is no car park on site and finding nearby parking can be difficult and expensive. While the location is convenient for exploring the area on foot, the proximity to busy roads can contribute to noise levels in some rooms.
Staff & Service
The service experience is largely defined by the property's remote management system. While some guests commend the polite and helpful phone support, particularly when assisting with access issues or late-night queries, many express frustration with the overall lack of on-site staff. The check-in process is a frequent point of contention, often described as a "shambles" due to delayed access codes, incorrect room assignments, and rooms not being ready on time. Guests report difficulties contacting staff, with some feeling that customer service can be unhelpful or unresponsive to complaints, particularly regarding refunds or room changes. The absence of a physical reception means guests must rely entirely on digital communication for assistance.
Additional Information
A key characteristic of this accommodation is its unmanned property status, operating primarily through a code-based entry system for both the main building and individual rooms. This system, while intended for convenience, is a frequent source of frustration due to issues with codes not being sent in advance or being incorrect. A significant recurring concern is the fire alarm system, which guests report frequently malfunctions, sounding at inconvenient hours without immediate staff presence to address it. This has led to safety concerns, with guests noting a lack of clear evacuation plans or assembly points. Furthermore, many guests feel that the photos used to advertise the rooms are misleading, depicting a much larger or better-maintained space than what is provided. Some guests also report issues with security, citing doors that do not lock properly or accidental entry by staff or other guests due to code mix-ups.
