Positive Reviews

Lovely relaxing ambience throughout the hotel.

The entire atmosphere at Rick's encourages and suggests unwinding, de-stressing, and just enjoying a wonderful stay. The common areas are warm and inviting, and the bedrooms are comfortable, pleasant, and spacious enough for you to focus on being away and having fun.

Great staff that truly makes you feel welcomed.

Everyone working at the hotel, from the dining and pub staff, to those that tend to the rooms, exhibit gracious welcomes. Talk to them about where to go and what to see, the local scene, and anything else that you want to know about the area. They're attentive, delightful, and a joy to interact with.

Wonderfully located for getting to know Edinburgh.

You'll have no shortage seeing the Edinburgh sights, with this inn as a base. There's a lot that's within walking distance, as well as short drives, so you can absorb the scenery while travelling about. From leisure to cultural to just the natural beauty of the city, you can experience everything from here.

Negative Reviews

Dining and bar prices should be lower for guests.

Although the menu and pub selections are well received, and there are some specials, it's also felt that guests should pay less. Breakfast in particular, is at question, given the usual experience of complimentary or included morning meals at places similar to this one.

It's uncomfortable without air con and a lift.

Without a lift as an option, treading the stairs may be challenging for some. There's no air conditioning, and the rooms can become quite warm. These two downsides combined make for slightly uncomfortable accommodations.

Some room views are where the bins are collected.

Be aware that some rooms are located near or over where the bins are collected. Thus, early morning noise and strong odours may disrupt you.
