Positive Reviews

Elegant and well-appointed interior.

Guests were impressed with the interior decor of the communal rooms, most notably the lounge and reception area which were said to be decorated to a very high standard. Wood panelled walls, fine antiques and oil paintings created a sense of grandeur and luxury which was appreciated by many. Guests enjoyed spending time in the communal rooms such as the comfy and elegant lounge with its leather sofas and views across the gardens.

Memorable dining experiences.

Those who had dinner at the on-site restaurant were very complimentary about the quality of food as well as the surroundings in which they had their meal. The stylish dining room and efficient service made a good impression on many who dined here. The menus were described as extensive featuring lots of interesting dishes.

Picturesque and tranquil setting.

The hotel is surrounded by beautiful Welsh countryside as well as 21 acres of gardens which have been described as immaculately presented. Guests enjoyed going for walks along the grounds or sitting on their balconies admiring the scenic views.

Negative Reviews

Lack of picturesque view.

Upon entering their rooms, some guests were disappointed to find that their window looks out onto a wall as opposed to the hotel’s picturesque gardens. If you are keen on having a scenic view it’s advisable to let the staff know prior to booking.

Noisy plumbing.

Guests complained about the noise made by the plumbing, particularly the noisy toilets cisterns as well as the radiators which disturbed quite a few guests and prevented them from getting a good night’s sleep.

Long climb to the rooms.

There is no lift in the building which inconvenienced some guests whose rooms were located on the upper floors. Guests objected to climbing several flights of stairs particularly those carrying heavy items of luggage.
