Positive Reviews

Good food at the restaurant

Recent guests have nothing but good things to say about the food. Most guests are on full board so eat a lot of meals at the hotel. The relative absence of complaints about the food becoming boring over time is remarkable. It seems that the kitchen has a handle on things and keeps their menus fresh.

Excellent staff are a lot of fun

Many of the staff members, especially the entertainers, get high marks from guests. They are described not only as efficient and good at their jobs, but also as possessing a great sense of humour. They seemed to help keep the guests spirits up throughout their stay.

Easy to walk around the town

The town of Criccieth is a small one, and it's easy to walk down to the beach or castle from the hotel. While many guests have had mobility issues, those who don't appreciated that everything was close at hand.

Negative Reviews

Almost exclusively for coach parties

A couple of guests who travelled independently mentioned that the felt a bit odd staying at a hotel where the overwhelming majority were members of a single coach party. The hotel's schedule, from dining to entertaining and more, seemed to be shaped for this party, so they felt a little left out.

Décor might be due an update

This wasn't a major point, but a small number of guests did think that the décor was a tired and an update would make a world of difference.

Some rooms have less than stellar views

While many of the hotels rooms face the castle, guests mention that some of the other rooms have very dreary views indeed, usually of dirty walls opposite. If possible, guests are advised to try to get a castle view room.
