Positive Reviews

Enjoy The Meals

The chef uses beef, fresh fish, and seafood from respectable local organisations. There are plenty of starter choices to choose from, a great main course, and sumptuous desserts. There are also a good variety of cheeses served with grapes, walnuts, and biscuits. The breakfast is included in the rooms price as well.

Comfort In Size

The rooms are a decent size, the bathroom is nice, and the hot water flows. The accommodations are adequately clean as well.

Great For A History Tour

The location is convenient for visiting numerous National Trust properties and additional points of interest. It's original with plenty of history. The village is attractive and the hotel is noted as a historic building right in the centre of Canbrook. The hotel décor has remnants of historical times gone by, which makes it even more interesting. Check-out Sissinghurst and Hawkhurst Castle nearby.

Negative Reviews

The Pace Of A Snail

The Wi-Fi is about as fast as a snail! The connection can't be more than 1 MBPs and this is for the entire hotel. In fact, you may find the service throughout the hotel is slow as well. Waiting nearly an hour for your breakfast will probably make you lose your appetite.

Soundproofing Is Back Five Centuries

The soundproofing is from a few centuries back and definitely matches the ambiance of the hotel. If your room is over the front door, the noise level is outrageous. There is a sign that creaks when the wind is blowing like in a haunted movie, and the bed creaks as well! If your room faces the road it can get quite noisy and on Saturday nights, you might find plenty of noise during the night inside and outside the hotel.

Pay On Arrival

You may be asked to pay for your accommodations on arrival and there seems to be an attitude problem with the staff.
