About The Red Lion

The Red Lion Inn is a quaint 18th-century seaside Inn in Clovelly.

Nautical-themed rooms boast lots of natural light. All rooms have either harbour or sea views and some include heated floors. Flat screen TV, tea and coffee facilities are standard.

This boutiques hotel includes a bull English breakfast with your stay. Free parking and free Wi-Fi throughout the property are a plus.

The Red Lion Harbour Restaurant features seafood dishes served in an up-scale atmosphere. The Harbour Bar offers a more relaxed seafood menu as well as a selection of ales and ciders and the Snug Bar offers a small bar menu. Both feature stone floors and fireplaces and both have harbour views.

Milky Way Adventure Park, Clovelly Village, Clovelley Charters and A South West Coast Path are all within walking distance of the Inn.

Positive Reviews

The location is wonderful.

All the guest rooms at The Red Lion afford you stunning sea and harbour views as well as close proximity to Clovelly village, so you have everything you need in one place.

An excellent staff makes your day.

A warm, friendly staff welcomes you in and caters to your every need. They are happy to point you in the direction of local sights and regale you with the fascinating history of the area.

This is a traffic-free zone.

There are no cars allowed by the harbour or beach so it’s nice and quiet here. And because all of the parking is in an area located on a street at the top of the hill, above the Inn, you are given a parking permit which entitles you to free parking for th

Negative Reviews

It’s a steep walk downhill to the Inn.

Because the only parking is on a street that's located at the top of the hill above the Inn, it’s a steep walk down a cobbled lane to get to The Red Lion. This could prove to be problematic for those with low mobility and lots of luggage.

The bars are a bit unkempt.

Both bars have a problem with flies and often you’ll find old food caked on the side of crockery that is supposed to be clean. This is unappetizing at best.

The place needs a facelift.

The Inn is in need of refurbishment as carpeting, furnishings and bathroom fixtures are drab and really showing their age. This can make for a less-than-pleasing aesthetic unless all you really care about is the view from your window.
