About The Chudleigh

The Chudleigh is set in a quaint seaside residence less than five minutes’ walk from Clacton’s famed seafront. Old-fashioned hospitality, tasty food and well-appointed accommodations are the hallmarks of this established, family-owned B&B.

Spacious guest rooms with classical decor and designated seating areas provide flat-screen TVs and tea/coffee-making facilities. All rooms feature en-suite bathrooms: some have baths and showers; others only have showers.

Guests can relax in an informal resident’s lounge. On-site parking and property-wide Wi-Fi are both available free of charge.

A generous cooked breakfast is served in the cosy dining room each day. Numerous restaurants, pubs and fast-food outlets are located close by.

The Chudleigh is a three-minute walk from the resort’s landmark pier and a five-minute stroll from the town centre. Clacton train station is half-a-mile away.

Positive Reviews

Location is just about perfect

Tucked half way down a road perpendicular to the seafront and pier, The Chudleigh's handy location ensures you're always within an easy walk of everything you'd want to see. Popular local sights like the lovely beach and pretty ornamental gardens are literally round the corner whilst most of the resort's shops and entertainment venues are only about five minutes away on foot.

Old-school hospitality is just the ticket!

When you first walk in to the Chudleigh your eyes are invariably drawn to a carpet which is - let's be kind here - somewhat vintage in its taste. Thankfully, this is not an indication of the owners' wish to live in the past but a reflection of their dedication to maintaining old-fashioned values, the best example of which is undoubtedly their ability to deliver good old-fashioned hospitality in spades. If you don't feel warm and welcome here then your heart must have stopped beating.

Breakfast is a persistent delight

Along with the beds in the guest rooms (which are as comfy as can be here), a top quality brekky is an integral provision which any British B&B with ambitions to be regarded as ‘top quality' must be able to deliver on a consistent basis. The fact that the good folks running The Chudleigh have been rustling up tasty (and really very generous) cooked breakfasts for more than 50 years speaks volumes about this establishment's continued commitment to quality.
