Positive Reviews

Elegantly charming property

Thanks to its Georgian exterior, intricate ironwork, painted stucco façades and glorious entrance hall (replete with sweeping spiral staircase), this hotel simply oozes with elegance The horse-themed paintings and equine sculptures dotted around downstairs only adds to the charm.

Showers are amazing

The monsoon-style showers in the guest bathrooms are nothing short of heavenly Honestly, every other type of shower feels like a disappointment after you've experienced one of these The deep baths are pretty impressive too.

Good central location

With The Promenade just around the corner and the town centre less than half a mile away, the Hotel du Vin & Bistro is a great place to base yourself for shopping and sightseeing Moreover, the district of Montpelier itself, with its quaint coffee houses, elegant architecture and lovely park, is certainly a wonderful neighbourhood to call home for a while.

Negative Reviews

Car park is a bit of a tight squeeze

It is fair to say the hotel's car park isn't the largest you'll ever come across If you've got a large vehicle then you may prefer to try and find a space out on the road first (which is also free of charge).

Quite dark in accommodation areas

While the downstairs areas of the hotel are largely bright, pleasant spaces, the guest areas, i e the bedrooms and corridors, are pretty dark, even during daylight hours You might expect this from an old building to a degree but the choice of lighting system does little to improve matters.

Staff can be a little snooty

Some staff members aren't quite as personable or welcoming as perhaps they could be Indeed, some of them could actually be described as being somewhat arrogant Maybe it's a ploy to make the place seem even more Gallic.
