About The Three Crowns

Off of Dartmoor National Park, The Three Crowns is a grade-2 historical inn, whose origins date back to the 13th century. It still maintains much of its significant character, and for those bemused by paranormal reports, is reportedly haunted by the 17th century poet Sidney Godolphin.

The ensuite rooms include bathrobes, docking stations, flatscreen TV, tea/coffee, and free Wi-Fi. Wheelchair accessible and dog friendly rooms are also available.

Parking is free at The Three Crowns, but at limited availability, although some rooms do include reserved spaces. A car park at cost is nearby. There is a lounge with fireplace and free Wi-Fi through the common areas.

English cooked breakfast is included. The onsite restaurant also serves afternoon tea. The courtyard is set up for outside dining.

The Teign Valley trail incorporating Fingle Bridge and Castle Drogo is about a 15 minute drive away. Chagford Pool is a 15 minute walk.

Positive Reviews

Beautiful location and charming village atmosphere.

You're in a perfect location to appreciate the Devon countryside and all of its tranquillity and beauty. There are plenty of trails, bird watches, and activities such as rock climbing and rafting, to keep you busy. Shopping, recreation, and festivals in t

Staff make sure you thoroughly enjoy your stay.

It's easy and comfortable speaking to all of the staff, as they welcome interactions and conversations with the guests. It's like staying with friends, and having them care for your vacation plans.

Comfortable relaxing accommodations for dogs.

The rooms that are available for dogs, as well as the pub area in which they are allowed to sit, are warm and welcoming accommodations for the critters and their human caretakers. The genuine attention further supports the ambiance that this is a family f

Negative Reviews

Rooms are overpriced and not very spacious.

While lovely that the building has significant importance, the rooms are not as up to par and fresh. The cost is above average, for space that is cramped, awkward, and doesn't present as much of an embracing décor as expected.

Menu suffers from poor ingredients and techniques.

Meat dishes are undercooked and left with a lot of fat and grease on the cuts; processed ingredients are passed off as fresh; sides are overcooked or made unappetising; and frozen dishes are reheated and claimed as newly prepared.

Limited free parking is difficult and frustrating.

Many wish that more free parking was available, and that reserved spots were not just for some larger rooms. The car park fees are low, yet given the cost for the room and the location, it's annoying that such a charge has to be incurred.
