About The Backpack

The Backpack is a large hostel in central Cape Town offering a range of private and shared accommodation around two kilometres from Greenmarket Square and Long Street.

Dormitories come in three, six or eight beds in size, with female-only options possible. Private accommodation includes outside tents as well as ordinary single, double and twin options. Bathrooms vary from shared to private.

The in-house travel centre can assist with tour bookings for across the country. Guests can enjoy the on-site swimming pool, guarded parking and complimentary Wi-Fi. Lockers and luggage storage are also available.

A fully equipped communal kitchen allows guests to self-cater, whilst the on-site cafe serves a daily breakfast. In addition, there are an array of restaurants within a kilometre of the property.
