Positive Reviews

Recently refurbished and looking good

The Victorian villa of YHA Canterbury has recently been refurbished and as a result, you will find it is modernly-appointed while retaining its heritage, clean and well-kept.

All the essentials close by

Guests have largely found the hostel’s location to be handy since it is within a short walk of the city centre, with a bus stop just 50m down the road and several supermarkets located conveniently nearby.

Good communal areas

Many people have found the guest kitchen to be handy and good for further saving, while the lounge and other common areas bring a good atmosphere reinforced by the friendly and attentive nature of the staff members.

Negative Reviews

Extra charges for Wi-Fi

Although the Wi-Fi available in common areas is sometimes elsewhere described as being free, be aware that this is only for YHA members and non members can only access it for a fee.

Other costs add up

Some guests have also been disappointed by having to pay fees and deposits to use towels and a handful were of the opinion that free breakfast should have been included in the price However, most were understanding of this considering the budget price of the hostel.

Noise from other guests

As in all hostels, staying in dormitory accommodation sometimes means some disruption from people talking, coughing and snoring, but guests at YHA Canterbury have occasionally reported noise travelling from other rooms.

A little bit far for some

While the location is fine for most, the hostel is not within the city walls, so those not prepared for a little walking or the use of public transport may want to consider a closer option.
