Positive Reviews

The Dog Came Too

A family staying here found the staff extremely friendly and efficient, going out of their way to be helpful, and thought the hotel good value for money. The rooms are lovely and the grounds wonderful, guests were well satisfied. A family who brought along the dog found that his requirements were well looked after too!

Family Friendly

The facility to check in early is greatly appreciated, and the hotel is ideally located for visiting Bury St Edmunds; a guest attending a function at Hengrave Hall found the hotel a very convenient place to stay. It is family friendly, and the spacious, clean rooms are safe for a young child to play in.

Suffolk Breakfast

A guest reports that the hotel has a quaint atmosphere with charming period features. There is a generous supply of large, beautifully clean towels. The cooked Suffolk grill breakfast is delicious, with good portions.

Negative Reviews

Noise Intrusion

Guests were disturbed by the intrusion of load kitchen machinery noise into their room at 8 am, and the shower was unsatisfactory. Another reported a similar problem of noise and had a disturbed and virtually sleepless night The bed, made into a double using zip-together mattresses was rather uncomfortable.

Tired But Reasonable

There was a long delay waiting to check in on arrival, and in the room the guest found the bath to be rusty and the ceiling mouldy. One of the garden rooms is a little tired and past its best, nevertheless the guest who stayed there felt that, with the seasonal deal, the price was not unreasonable.

Why the Guest Crossed the Road

Drinks at the bar were very expensive, and guests resorted to the pub across the road Another reports that nobody seemed to give any attention at breakfast without even a “Good morning ”.
