Positive Reviews

Clean and spacious rooms

Guests tend to be complimentary about the standard of the rooms at the Red Lion Inn, often describing them as clean and spacious. The decor is nice, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms, while not particularly big, have good showers.

Friendly staff

With a handful of exceptions, guests have been impressed with the staff at this pub/hotel, consistently finding the team friendly and approachable. There are some issues with slow service in the restaurant but aside from that, the staff is found to be reasonably efficient.

Good value for money

While the Red Lion Inn has a few shortcomings, guests are generally of the opinion that they have enjoyed value for money. Rooms and food are reasonably priced and free perks such as Wi-Fi and breakfast add value. Plus, the early check-in and late check-out mean you get your room for longer.

Negative Reviews

Disappointing afternoon tea

Guests have occasionally been disappointed by the standard of the afternoon tea, with more than one suggesting that the pub needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. Reported issues include poor quality sandwiches, a meagre number of cakes and missing scones.

Slow service in restaurant

A number of previous guests indicate that there are issues with the service in the restaurant. The main problem seems to be that the food is slow in coming out. Guests sometimes report waiting more than an hour before their meal showed up.

Limited vegetarian meals

Guests mention that although the menu here is quite varied, the number of vegetarian dishes is very limited. On checking the current menu, it seems that there are just two options available. Vegetarian guests won't be spoiled for choice here.
