About The West Country Inn

The West Country Inn in Bideford is a charming property housed in a 16th century coaching inn and with a stunning moorland setting. The inn’s carvery, function rooms and location on the North Devon Atlantic highway are some features to recommend it.

The inn has nine rooms that retain a lot of the property’s original features such as exposed beans and have a lot of character. There are lovely views from the rooms, all of which are en suite.

The inn has a gym and a spa hot tub for guests to enjoy. There is a beer garden and a sun terrace here as well.

The inn has its own pub and restaurant serving home cooked food and a Sunday carvery. Menus are changed regularly and seasonal specialities are on offer.

The West Country Inn is located between the towns of Bideford and Bude.

Positive Reviews

Lovely old pub and inn

The West Country Inn is an old coaching in that retains a lot of its original character. Guests have enjoyed staying here and have also enjoyed the pub grub and the ales on offer here. Rooms are comfy and airy, with big beds. They are clean and nicely looked after with good views said guests. The food is tasty, fresh and well presented, said guests.

Friendly staff

The staff is relaxed and friendly which makes for an enjoyable atmosphere at the pub and inn. The landlady is very friendly and the staff makes the extra effort for guests arriving late by keeping the kitchen open longer and so on.

Good for the beer and bike festival

Several guests who visit the area for the Bike and Beer festival in summer recommend the place as being convenient and well located and equipped for the event.

Negative Reviews

Some creaks

The West Country Inn is a very old building so creaky floorboards and small bathrooms are some of the problems experienced by guests here. However, most guests felt that this was par for the course considering the age of the building.

Breakfast woes

Breakfast is advertised as being available all day for walk in pub guests however it is available only till 10 AM for guests staying at the inn. Some guests thought that the breakfast lacked variety and others felt that it was rather cold.

Other woes

A few guests thought that the bedding seemed mismatched and worn and that the duvet did not seem big enough for the beds. At times the inn was short staffed according to some guests.
