About The Barns Hotel

The Barns Hotel is a riverside hotel situated within three and a half acres of landscaped gardens, close to Bedford.

Each of the 48 bedrooms benefits from en-suite facilities, TV, trouser press, hair dryer, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Rooms are traditionally furnished with dark wood furniture.

The hotel has a 13th century barn within its grounds, perfect for weddings and other functions. A full wedding package is available, and the hotel holds monthly wedding open evenings as well as other occasional special events.

The Barns Hotel offers The WineGlass Restaurant, and The Riverside Pub. An a la carte menu is provided, as well as the bar and lounge menu and an afternoon tea menu. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily, and a range of drinks are available.

The hotel is close to Woburn Abbey, Woburn Safari Park and the Wild World Leisure Area.

Beautiful location next to the river.

A number of guests comment on the beautiful riverside location of the hotel, with panoramic views across the countryside. Guests comment that the grounds are lovely and well-kept, and the 13th century barn is reportedly stunning and an excellent event spa

Friendly staff and good food.

Reviews seem to suggest that food is good, on the whole. A number of guests comment that staff are friendly and helpful. There do seem to be a few issues regarding food and service, but on the whole guests seem happy with the restaurant in general.

Clean, spacious and pleasant rooms.

Negative Reviews

Very little seating.

Some guests complain of a shortage of seating, particularly in the pub and on the outside veranda overlooking the lake. It seems that seating in these areas is particularly popular, and guests suggest that more seating should be provided in these areas.

Poor shower pressure.

A few guests complain of poor shower pressure in the bathrooms, which is reportedly affected by the temperature. In general, showers seem lacking and difficult to control.

Staff shortages.

Whilst staff are generally described as pleasant and friendly, a number of guests claim that there seems to be a general shortage of staff, resulting in poor or slow service, particularly at breakfast time. Guests comment that breakfast seems disorganised
