Positive Reviews

Fantastic location for a vacation or special event

Between the lake and Skiddaw Mountain views, sightings of deer, sheep, and alpacas, and the all around tranquillity that surrounds the place, this is a perfect location for a countryside getaway The hotel is well noted for hosting weddings and receptions, and offering a variety of leisure activities, including fishing, archery, and clay pigeon shooting If you do venture off the grounds, you can get to Theatre by the Lake or Castlerigg Stone Circle within 20 minutes.

The little details that make it so charming

Fireplaces, outside pools, French doors, and little touches such as holiday and special occasion treats add to the hotel's charming character Warm and friendly staff do what they can to make guests of all ages feel welcome, and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy Children have designated times to enjoy the pools, and there are spa packages specifically designed for teenagers.

It's lovely having spa services to indulge in

Unwinding in the hot tub, doing yoga, or getting a massage and then relaxing by the fireplace in the spa lounge are additional ways to pamper yourself at this hotel.

Negative Reviews

Rooms actually overdo it and are too stuffed

Some feel that the rooms are too crowded, and that the attempts to make it as luxurious as possible result in a sense of stuffiness The décor could also use some updating.

Breakfast buffets are bland and repetitive

Given the elegance of the hotel, its amenities, and its atmosphere, the breakfast buffet seems ordinary It's not particularly interesting, doesn't vary, and serves run of the mill tea and coffee.

It's disappointing to end the stay and go home

A stay at Armathwaite Hall is so rewarding and enjoyable that it's a downer when you have to leave!
