Set directly opposite a leafy park in Barnstaple is The Park; a beautiful four-star hotel.

Many of the en-suite rooms have views, all feature LCD TVs, tea-and-coffee-making facilities and beds can be made up with linen duvets or sheets and blankets, if preferred. Inter-connecting family rooms are available.

Free Wi-Fi and parking is available and guests of The Park have complimentary access to the leisure facilities at a sister hotel, The Barnstaple, a five-minute drive away.

The Park View Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and a-la-carte dinners with daily specialising the Seasons Bar, with its French doors leading onto a sun terrace, guests can enjoy Devonshire cream teas, light lunches and drinks.

Rock Park, with acres of open space, is directly opposite. Barnstaple Town Centre is a 15-minute walk away and the beaches of North Devon are 30-minutes by car.

Friendly staff.

Many reviewers suggest that, while the hotel has many great features, it is the staff that truly make it what it is. From the Reception to the Restaurant staff, Housekeeping and Managers; all are friendly and will go out of their way to help.

Clean and well-thought-out.

Rooms are serviced daily and kept meticulously clean. Guests also like that the bathrooms, in particular, are very well thought-out, with plenty of space beside the sinks for toiletries.

Negative Reviews

Beds. You'll either love them or hate them.

As in many hotels, the beds are a source of contention. Some guests love them while others have described them as being too soft. It all comes down to personal taste.

Room sizes vary.

Previous guests recommend discussing room options with the staff at the hotel before you book. Some of the double rooms are, perhaps, a little on the small side for two guests, but would be ideal for a single traveller. Other rooms are much more spacious.

No air conditioning in rooms.

Air conditioning is present in the common areas of the hotel but there is currently none in guest rooms. This, obviously, won't be a problem all year-round but worth taking into consideration if your stay is during the Summer months.
