Positive Reviews

Excellent pub food.

For most guests, The Red Lion serve everything you could wish from a great pub meal; sizeable portions of hearty, traditional food cooked from quality produce. The breakfasts, in particular, come very highly recommended.

Hotel service from a B&B.

A frequent remark is that the service provided by the staff is more akin to the kind you'd receive from a luxury hotel; nothing is too much trouble and the team are friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

Basic, but immaculately clean.

The general consensus is that The Red Lion gets the basics completely right; rooms are not full of mod cons but are clean and newly decorated. They are spacious and the beds are comfortable, with crisp white bed linen.

Negative Reviews

Noise disturbances.

With its main road location and popular beer garden, the bedrooms, situated on the first floor, may be affected by noise. This is, apparently, most likely to be an issue when there are early morning deliveries and on weekend nights although, of course, no

Parking not always easy.

Depending on when you visit, parking may be an issue. The hotel can supply a voucher for free afternoon and overnight parking, but they do not have an unlimited number, so well worth giving early notice if you require one.

Book ahead for dinner.

The pub is a busy one and the restaurant is not large so, if you are considering staying for dinner, it is best to book. Guests have, in the past, been unable to dine at their preferred time.
