About The Peacock

The Peacock is a 200-year-old traditional inn set in the picturesque Peak District market town of Bakewell.

Rooms at The Peacock have original features and have en-suite bathrooms with shower facilities, washbasin and WC. They also feature tea and coffee-making facilities and digital TV. The main 'Master' bedroom has a four-poster bed.

Built in a converted stable, The Peacock retains many original features including exposed beams and stone walls. Free Wi-Fi is available in the bar area. Luxury off-site cottage accommodation is also available.

Traditional home-cooked food is served in the on-site pub restaurant, and is made from locally-sourced ingredients. The food is complimented by locally-brewed craft ales, quality wines and continental beers.

The Peacock is in the heart of the market town Bakewell, the original home of the Bakewell Tart. The stately home Chatsworth House is 10-minutes away by car, while Alton Towers theme park is 50-minutes away.

Close to more great pubs.

Real ale drinkers are in for a good time in Bakewell. Besides The Peacock, Bakewell has its fair share of welcoming traditional pubs serving local speciality craft ales. A good night will be had by all!

Negative Reviews

Free car parking is hit and miss.

The Peacock does provide free car parking for guests, but there is no reservation system in place so getting a space can depend on luck as much as anything. If there are no free parking spaces available, guests have to use pay-and-display parking.

Breakfast not included with cost of the accommodation.

The Peacock do not give guests a free breakfast as part of their stay. While the breakfast is frequently described as being excellent across reviews of this guesthouse, you will need to factor in the additional cost ahead of planning your visit.

No free Wi-Fi in the rooms.

Wi-Fi is available at The Peacock, but is available only in the bar area and not in the rooms. No hardwired internet connection is available either, which might prove inconvenient.
