About High Range

This lodge style hotel is located on the outskirts of the highland town of Aviemore. In addition to commanding views of the Caingorm Mountains and Rothiemurchus forests, High Range also boasts an award-winning pizzeria restaurant and bar.

Guest rooms are bright and airy and feature artwork by local artist Ann Vastano. Every room has a LCD television, DVD player, complementary Wi-Fi, and tea/coffee making facilities.

The hotel offers luggage storage services and has a children's playground to keep little ones amused. Free parking is available.

Snacks, lunch, dinner, and – of course – pizza are all served daily in the informal, semi-continental surroundings of La Taverna Pizzeria and Bar. The informal bar proffers Italian coffees, British lagers and Continental draught beers until late.

The town centre and Aviemore train station are both less than 10-minutes’ walk from High Range. Cairngorms National Park is approximately 30-minutes’ drive away.

Positive Reviews

Extremely pleasant surroundings

It isn't just the splendid views of the ancient Caledonian forests and majestic Cairngorm Mountains which leave you feeling thoroughly relaxed and at ease with the world; it's also the calm ambience and infectious stillness of High Range itself. Truly, you'll be very hard pushed to find a more peaceful and pleasant spot to stay than this.

Pizzeria is a big, big plus

It's clear to see why La Taverna Pizzeria and Bar is so highly rated As well as serving stone-baked pizzas of the very highest order (they won the coveted 'best pizza in Scotland' award last year), this charming family-owned restaurant also has a completely inclusive atmosphere, making everyone on the premises feel like they're part of one big touring group Really friendly, really enjoyable and really tasty Top marks all round.

Rooms are cosy and toasty

If you're visiting the area to take advantage of the snow sports then you'll love returning to your room at the end of each day – they're always lovely and toasty!

Negative Reviews

No breakfast available on-site

It is a big shame that there is no provision for breakfast anywhere on-site That being said, there are plenty of places to grab a brekkie in town and the brief walk is guaranteed to give you a hearty appetite!

Walls betwen guest rooms are a bit thin

While the accommodation is undoubtedly very well-appointed, it's fair to say that the relatively thin walls let it down a little If you have someone staying next door who is a loud snorer then it's quite likely you'll hear their grunting through the wall Bring ear plugs, just in case.

But that's all

Putting breakfast and the thin walls to one side, there really isn't much else here to take issue with.
