Positive Reviews

Smoker friendly

Those Amsterdam visitors who might be planning to smoke during their stay will find they are able to do so in their rooms at Abba, with staff friendly and unobtrusive.

Location, location, location

Guests have found the location of the hotel to be one of its main selling points: You will find yourself close to the museum district, Vondelpark, the party centre of Leidseplein and many of the city’s other main attractions A tram to the main station stops right outside the front door.

Affordable for Amsterdam

This hotel is the definition of cheap and cheerful — the rooms are basic but have all the requisite comforts, a hearty breakfast including boiled eggs and cheeses is included in the price and there is an Albert Heijn supermarket downstairs if you want to save even more money.

Staff sincere, friendly

If you need a recommendation of where to go in the city, help carrying luggage up the stairs or anything else, the staff members are there to help with a smile.

Negative Reviews

Seriously steep stairs

Those who have not previously encountered Dutch stairs should be aware that Abba has numerous flights of these and they are steep and tricky to navigate if you have a lot of luggage with you or you have limited mobility The staff can help you out if carrying bags up is an issue.

Can be too smoky

Hotel guests are often smoking, and not just cigarettes, so if the smell of smoke gets to you then this would not be the hotel for you The smell sometimes lingers in rooms.

On the small side

As with the stairs, Amsterdam is known for having small rooms and some guests have found the showers and rooms in this hotel to be more compact than they would have liked.

Other small issues

Guests have reported occasional instances of excess noise experienced due to thin walls, several have not been happy with breakfast and the variety available, or had trouble accessing Wi-Fi. People have occasionally been dissatisfied with rooms not being serviced during their stay.
