Positive Reviews

The staff is warm and welcoming

The staff at Alston House Hotel could not be more warm and welcoming which makes you feel at home. They are happy to accommodate most any request and are quite knowledgeable about the area including walking and cycling trails, the most popular local attractions and places to dine and drink.

Pets are welcome here

It's wonderful that this hotel accepts pets as there are so many exceptional walks to be had right outside your door.

Great location for walkers and cyclists

This area is known for its incredible beauty and the trails that wander up and around The Fells. If you're in the area to explore, this is a great place to hang your hat, as it sits at the edge of The Pennine Way and they offer guests a drying room for those especially wet days.

Negative Reviews

Things can get noisy

Despite the quiet locale, there are times when Alston House Hotel can get a bit raucous. This only happens on the weekends when the hotel has a wedding booked on property as the music and festivities can go on until midnight.

The hotel needs an upgrade

As is the case with an older building such as this, the place is in need of some upgrading. Sloping floors and dated furnishings may deter you from staying here but otherwise, the hotel is clean and cosy.

The Wi-Fi is spotty

The Wi-Fi in the guest rooms can be spotty and weak which can be problematic if you need to get an email out in a hurry. Luckily, the Wi-Fi signal in the public spaces is much better.
