[15/12/2009] My wife and I have visited this resort twice in the past. Unfortunately not to long ago there was a major flood in the area and a lot of the resort was washed away. Fortunately the place has been rebuilt in some areas and renovated.They have also added twenty eight wooden mountain lodges above the resort. These lodges are luxury accomodation with underfloor heating for winter and aircons for summer. Each one has its own spa. [15/12/2009] My wife and I wanted to get away for a week but the only place we could get on short notice was at the Piekenierskloof mountain lodge. We thought OK fine lets try it as it is only about two and a half hours from Cape Town.We were actually very pleasantly surprised to find out that it had just been taken over by the holiday club that we belong to and it had been completely renovated. [15/12/2009] Whilst travelling from Bloemfontein to Cape Town I needed to find a place to stay for the night at Beaufort West. I was very fortunate to find The Karoo Gateway Beb and Breakfast,which used to be the old Beaufort West airport. It has now been purchased by a very nice couple and turned into a bed and breakfast. there are still a number of light aircraft that land there every gay to refuel on the journey between Johannesburg and Cape Town as this is the halfway point.
