Description: The National Railway Museum in York was established in 1975. It contains articles relating to the railways in Britain and houses over 100 different locomotives and a further 200 related items. All of these items are displayed in three large halls within a former power depot that is next to the east coast main railway line, adjacent York railway station.
This is the largest museum of its type in the World and attracts over 750,000 visitors a year.
It is open daily from 10am until 6pm. Admission is free.
