Article
[Chouchin, 07.04.2008] The author informs that the Royal York is a "huge, rambling Victorian building" close to the station. So close that the rooms at the back overlook the concourse and station announcements can be heard in the bathroom. The reception was grand with "two giant chandeliers" and a "stately" staircase leading to a "glass dome". There was a "large" garden at the front with a fountain and "rows of flags" and rooms at the front had "marvelous" views of York Minster.

The room was "modern" with "purple décor" and the "original wooden furniture" gave it a "bit of class". The pool, however, was "very small" and "packed with people".

The restaurant was a "fine" room with more chandeliers and a view of the Minster, although the food was of medium standard.

The article ends with questions and answers about specific facilities on offer.
