[ProfMagellan, 03.08.2008] This hotel dates back to 1707. Napolean stayed here on his way back from Elba. The Hostellerie de la Poste used to be on the main road from Paris to Lyon; but since the motorway was built in the 1970s, Avallon has become a bit of a backwater and the hotel itself closed for many years reopening in 1998.
