Built in the 19th century the house was bought as a hunting lodge in 1888 by Lord Lonsdale then one of the richest men in the country. Known as the 'Yellow Earl' he ensured that his name went down in history by bequeathing the famous Lonsdale Belt to boxing. His lodge was set in the incomparable landscape of the Lake District overlooking one ofEngland's loveliest stretches of water Windermere.
