[Caradawn, 15.03.2008] Susan Kurosawa described the resort as being like a japanese feudal compound with its low walls and gates. Although it is newly built, she said that the "plantings" were "mature" and there's a "well-entrenched feel". She wrote of an "ultra-luxurious spread" with a "grand spaciousness" and "exclusivity" that one would "expect" from a five-star hotel.

Kurosawa stated that the guest pavilions were "enormous" with "oversized" bathrooms and were "beautifully" equipped with flat screen televisions and "all known techno-amenities". The design was "sleek" and "uncluttered". The "panoramic" window offered a view of the Whitsunday Passage. Kurosawa mentioned that each pavilion is also equipped with an electric cart for transport through the terraces of the resort.

The Spa is described as an "oasis of calm" and "indulgence". Kurosawa talked about a range of treatments available and mentioned yoga and meditation. Other activities were the option to take out catamarans or kayaks, swimming, scuba instruction, parasailing, snorkelling and a helicopter ride, among other things.

Although the staff was friendly, Kurosawa felt that the service needed addressing. She mentioned that some of the dining room staff seemed to be "wandering like wildebeest" and she left the Pebbles one lunchtime without the dessert she ordered. She also discovered a part eaten pot of pate in the fridge from the previous guests.

The location is said to be "perfect" in its tropical environment close to the sea and set on the headland. Two restaurants are mentioned, the Pebbles and a one on the water's edge.
