Article
[micksheff, 07.07.2007] This hotel is "a deeply secluded castle" that is located "on a private island in the River Suir". It has a history that dates back 800 years and it is "surrounded by woodland " as well as "an 18-hole championship golf course".
The interior of the hotel has "oak-paneled walls" plus "colorful tapestries, and huge stone fireplaces". However, the author describes the décor as "a bit dated" and points out that the majority of the suites "are furnished with four-poster or canopied beds". All of these rooms "have firm mattresses and claw-foot bathtubs".
The staff are described as "excellent" and the atmosphere "graciously informal". It is also noted that the staff can arrange a variety of different activities including "horseback riding, fishing, watersports, and other local activities".
This hotel is rated as exceptional by Frommers, as indicated by the author's three star rating.
