I stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park in February 2009 whilst on business and found it to be a decent hotel although clearly very 'geared' for the conference market - I myself was attending a conference at the hotel for the week.
The room was spacious and fitted out to the standard one would expect of a Marriott. I wouldn't say it was the most 'sumptious' of rooms but certainly comfortable and all the basics were covered.
The hotel is sizeable and as I note, in my view, very much a conference venue but the staff I dealt with were all helpful and friendly. The food was acceptable and reasonably priced. The hotel also benefits from being within a short stroll of a metro station giving easy access to central Washington DC and the tourist attractions. The zoo is also only a short walk from the hotel - and well worth a visit.
All in all a perfectly acceptable hotel and one I would certainly consider using again when I next visit Washington DC.
