[trivago traveller, 08.04.2008] Lovely town, enough to do around Vilamoura as well - in Faro and Loule, possibly Albufeira. We had a really relaxing holiday, quiet and good restaurants, with good beach and boat trips etc. Only problem is we were burgled and the police are difficult to deal with. Although i'm sure this was just unlucky! Just a shame that it put a downer on the holiday, that was otherwise really good.
  • Apartment is adequately sized, not the most stylish - a bit dated, but you get what you pay for! pictures make it look nicer than it is. no air con...could be a problem in summer.

  • Watch out!! the picture of the pool given isn't the pool that is really there! although we went in april, so the reception wasn't even open, we had to follow the REALLY awful directions pinned in the window to another reception. so we spent the first approx half an hour of our holiday wandering around these random streets in Vilamoura trying to find this other reception. Which also isn't a 24 hour reception, so when our apartment was burgled on the last night, there is no phone in the apartment, and no reception to phone for help. Felt a bit lost to be honest.

  • Vilamoura is awesome. The marina is really nice, so quiet (we went in April, really good time to go - hot but not busy at all) and lots of good restaurants line the front. Quite expensive, but lovely. There's a good museum that's worth visiting, and the boat trips are really fun. The one that is a dolphin safari is so good! Beach is lovely too, sandy, clean water - not busy at all at this time of year. Worth getting a taxi/bus to Faro to visit the old town - there's a chapel of bones that is AMAZING. and also Loule market on a saturday is good.
