After talking about the historical background of the building of the church, roza4 tells us that it was really "a shock" for her to see this huge Church. She also adds at the end of her review that the place can be seen from "any point" in the city and that the best one is to discover it from the vaporetto when you are approaching along the grand canal. What is also striking is "the brightness" and the "light" brought by the oustide despite its big size. The inside is also worth seing since the "huge" altar and the floor patterns are said to be "magnificent" by the author of the review.

This review taken from the Frommers guide and displayed at the New York Times reviews on travels and tourism, assures that the 17th century church of Santa Maria della Salute, best known as "la salute" according to the guide, is truly a "masterpiece" of baroque architecture designed by a young architect (Longhena).
